Writers-in-Conversation Series

Cascadia is thrilled to host Writers-in-Conversation, a monthly series featuring award-winning author Michael N. McGregor interviewing important but often-overlooked Northwest writers. In partnership with the Edmonds Book Shop, the program highlights the thoughts, creativity, and work of authors who are shaping and bringing diversity to the Northwest literary scene today.

On November 14, McGregor will be talking with Putsata Reang, an award-winning author and journalist whose writings have appeared in a variety of national and international publications, including the New York Times, Politico, the Guardian, Ms, The Seattle Times and the San Jose Mercury News.

Her debut memoir, Ma and Me (FSG/MCD May 17, 2022) won the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association prize for Nonfiction; and was a finalist for a Dayton Literary Peace Prize, and Lambda Literary Prize.

McGregor is a Seattle-based author whose book Pure Act: The Uncommon Life of Robert Lax was a finalist for a Washington State Book Award. After growing up in Seattle, he earned a BA in journalism at the University of Oregon and an MFA in creative writing at Columbia University. A former journalist and professor of creative writing, he curates the website writingthenorthwest.com. You can learn more about him and his work, including his new novel, The Last Grand Tour, at michaelnmcgregor.com.
